The time is now...

I've done a bit of discussion about which pokemon I want on my team but I haven't decided for sure yet... Well... Every Pokemon has been leaked... So its time to make a decision...

Arcanine-WILL I CHOOSE YOU?

With 721 Pokemon and more soon to come, the decision is left in everyone's hands. Who will I choose for my team in Pokemon Sun and Moon. So far I've talked about Mudsdale and Garchomp but today I'm going all the way back to the first generation to try and make this decision... Which leaves the ultimate question, Arcanine, WILL I CHOOSE YOU?
Arcanine

Arcanine is one of my favourites from the first generation. Arcanine looks so powerful but so dog-like at the same time. I mean doesn't he just look like a huge, fire German Shepard? I know he's meant to be like a lion, but he just looks so loyal. This is a pokemon that deserves a mega evolution (even though Mega Evolutions probably won't be returning). If they give him an ice type alolan form though I might cry. Speaking of which, I need to show off some art for some alolan Arcanines so what better time than now!

This concept art (to the left) by Pokemon Concepts is like a total opposite of Arcanine! It's fur is literally floating water! THAT IS JUST SO COOL! I'M LOST FOR WORDS!

THIS IS THE COOLEST POKEMON DESIGN EVER!
(Actually, you'll have to see my favorite starter Pokemon post for that information...)

Now that we've looked at Arcanines appearance we need to look at its statistics because that's a whole new factor of the story!

  • Maximum stats are calculated with 252 EVs, IVs of 31, and a helpful nature, if applicable.
  • This Pokémon's  Special  base stat in Generation I was 80.

Arcanine is meant to be a good attacker with a reasonable speed. His average stat total is 555 which is prettygood, but considering we just looked at Garchomp it seems a bit weak. It still is a really good stat total and is equivilent to the Pokemon known as Banette. With a Mega Evolution or some minor stat changes we could be looking at a very affective Pokemon. The next section is about it's move set. But, with Arcanine being a Generation One favourite for many we might be looking at a completely new move set if he gets an alolan form.

Because Arcanine is evolved by fire stone, it's moves are learned from his unevolved form. I'll be showing the statistics of both just to compare. Growlithes moves are presented below

So Growlithe will probably come with the advantage of ember when I first capture him so that means I'll be set for any grass type Pokemon as soon as I begin. I'm going to have to keep him a bit of a higher level in case we run into water types. Luckily we'll have Take Down pretty quickly so I wouldn't worry to much. By the time we learn take down, we'll already be building up our awesome fire type moves! Eventually we'll have access to moves such as Flame Burst, Flame Thrower, Heat Wave and even Flare Blitz if I'm patient and don't evolve him.

There really isn't any point to evolving him early unless you want Extreme Speed... But... I don't know why you'd choose that over Flare Blitz...

All in all Arcanine is a pretty good choice for a companion in Pokemon Sun and Moon, but there's still a huge decision yet to come... Because there's 721 Pokemon that roam around in these games, and we haven't even begun to get into them yet...

Favourite Starters: 18-16

The biggest decision in a Pokemon game is usually which starter to pick. Today I'm gonna be counting down my favourite starter Pokemon. I will not be counting Pokemon like pikachu and I will not be including the 7th generation starters either. This is mostly my opinion but there are some stats in it as well. I'll be judging each starter and there evolutions as well. Let's get into.
Snivy
Number 18: Snivy

The bottom spot has to go to Snivy. The Unova region is hated by many people, but not me! I love this region and it's pokemon (apart from Vanilluxe), however Snivy never really appealed to me. Sure his original form is kind of cute but, then he just becomes like a weird floating snake and that's where it went downhill for me.

The design just doesn't appeal to me and nor does the move set.

I don't know much about moves but I don't really like grass moves. He does have the handy move of Giga Drain but you'll be getting towards the end of your game by then so you'll probably only be able to use it on the elite four. Leaf storm is a good move but you most likely won't need it because you would have completed the main story line.
Image result for Fennekin
Number 17: Fennekin

Fennekin is a perfectly fine Pokemon it just never has been anything to special for me. Delphox was probably my least favourite of the final evolutions of the 6th generation starters even though none of them really looked appealing to me. I'm starting to change my mind about Fennekin though so I think it will be moving up my list soon. I've just got to learn to appreciate it more. Maybe Sun and Moon will be the perfect opportunity.

It has some pretty good moves up its sleeve even though a lot won't be available until after the elite four such as Fire Blast. Luckily you'll have flamethrower and Psychic just in time for the elite four and you'll most likely have Flame Charge and Ember.
Image result for Froakie
Number 16: Froakie
This was a bit of a hard decision because there was another Pokemon I wanted to put here but in the end I had to put Froakie here. He's a perfectly fine Pokemon, he just doesn't feel like a starter. He seems like a pokemon you'd catch on the first route, use for a while and then send to your PC box. I know that a lot of people love the final evolution Greninja but my opinion is similar to what I said about Fennekin. I've just got to learn to like it.

Froakie has some great moves, there's no doubt about that. It's the usual case though, a lot of these won't be learnt until after the elite four. If you want Hydro Pump for your battle against Malva (the fire gym leader)  you might have to do some extra training. Luckily you'll probably have water shuriken and Water Pulse by then to help you.

This first list showed my least favourite starters. I like all the starter pokemon past Number 15 (you'll see which starter takes the spot of number 15 next time I post this) so stay tuned to find out who will be my favourite starter Pokemon!
